I have a rather large project that I've been working on in Unity for 2 years.

Recently, I was enticed to finally try updating my runtime so that I could use the new hinge joint functionality Spine is offering.

After a few bumps and errors, I got everything working so that the game seems to be playing fine with the new runtime, but I have a really bad QOL issue that has been caused by this update

Every time I click play to test my project in unity, then stop, the very next time I click any game object in the hierarchy that has spine stuff on it, the editor will freeze for about 9 seconds. Just the first time, after that I can click anything as normal. But if I test again, once again, after testing the first object with spine components that I click will freeze for 9 seconds.

Just to make sure that this issue is new, I loaded a backup from just before I updated the runtime, and the issue is not present here. No freezes.

So whatever is going on, it's caused by something to do with updating the runtime, since nothing else is different except for the runtime.

I was wondering if anyone had any theories about what is causing this. If this can't be resolved I'll be forced to roll back and abandon my dream of using the new hinge 2d functionality, which is a shame since the game itself seems to be working fine under the new runtime. It's just those editor freezes that I can't abide.

We are sorry for the troubles! We are unaware of this editor freezing problem. Could you please send us a minimal Unity project as a zip file where this problem still occurs to contact@esotericsoftware.com? We would be happy to fix it.
