  • Weird path tangent

Hello,

I just updated to the 3.6.50 version. I'm on win10.
But some weird tangent go toward infinity and beyond.

When a path is not closed, Spine shows you the path lines beyond each end. It is only shown when the path is selected.

Hmm ok ok. I've the feeling it looked like a bug.
But to what end? Is it a kind of "guide" when you're holding your mouse editing a point?

Some people may go over the 100% or less than 0% translate of the Path constraint, the lines show where your constrained bone would end up to in those cases. It's actually pretty useful (:

Features look like bugs and bugs look like features! :nerd:

I would agree that we need to make it not look like a bug for most people.
Maybe it should show only when the path constraint is actually beyond 0% or 100%.

But you need it to plan your animations, otherwise what's the point?

Maybe it should fade out instead of going infinitely. And/or be a dotted line. I'm not sure what would work.

It does seem wrong to add visual clutter for people who don't need it, which is probably more people than the people who use paths beyond the 0-100 range.

I agree fading or making it dotted would be good.

Dotted could be OK. Rendering dotted lines is a bit of a pain though.

It is a little more cluttered, but is only shown when the path is selected.

Another option could be to change the Closed checkbox to a select box: Closed, Open, and uhh Open + < 0% or > 100%. Would need a reasonable name for the last. This could have the benefit that for Open the faint extra lines are not drawn and also path constraints can't go outside 0-100%. The field would need a name though (eg Close type), so that is two things that are hard to name.

For names, how about: Closed, Clamped, Open
